Recap
Carpe Assembled off the mark.
Similar to the first fixture, both Carpe Assembled and Pana FC were looking for their first win off the back of their opening fixtures ending in defeat.
The similarities continued as it was a contest which showed that being well-drilled, system based and having togetherness makes up for lack of experience, strength and power. Carpe Assembled’s were confident coming into the game from their opening fixture as they started as they left, combining well in midfield and defence to get behind Pana FC’s press to attack in numbers.
Their youth and exuberance was ultimately too much for Pana FC as they were unable to get a foothold in the game and some costly mistakes from their defence and goalkeeper meant that they were 3-0 down before they got to grips with the tempo.
Pana FC continue to show promise.
The scoreline did not reflect how the match unfolded as Pana FC certainly showed glimpses of their quality and when the opportunity allowed, their strength and power combined with a high pressing game at times led to numerous opportunities only to be let down from either poor execution in the final third or poor finishing.
An excellent volley from Jay brought the game to 3-1 followed by a moment of madness from Carpe Assembled’s goalkeeper which JJ converted from the penalty spot.
3-2 and we have a game!
At 3-2, the game turned into a basketball match and both teams threatened each other’s goals but at this tempo, the youthful Carpe Assembled had the quality to put their counter attacks to full use and were able to extend their lead.
Morgan was a standout performer for Carpe Assembled as he patrolled the midfield with slick passing and consistently alleviating pressure whether that be through a turn or taking the ball and driving his side up the pitch.
Pana FC are a threat…
You would be silly to think 2 games and 2 defeats meant that Pana FC look like relegation contenders and could very much be a threat to everyone else in the league. A win in the near future is all they need and they would be sure to make some noise in the South London League.
Carpe Assembled on the other hand are a team to watch out for and by far are the most enjoyable team to watch as they play with the handbrake off and an energy not many teams would be able to match.
